damn, i ran out of room answering this, so i will just reblog. the bill clearly states that the insurance and pharmaceutical companies will be forced to support a large percentage of the gov’t sponsored health care through increased taxes, a measure that will inevitably increase cost for consumers who buy into private health insurance. the ultimate goal is to put the private companies out of business, forcing americans to participate in the government’s health care program. in that respect, yes, americans can be forced to buy services from the government. we are already forced to buy into services some of us have no intention of using (social security).
Premise: The federal state, via the Constitution, claims the ability to require via mandate (and penalties if the mandate isn’t obeyed) that individuals buy a specific product from private companies. That’s the premise at work in this new health care refom law.
